Dr. Wesley McWhorter, DrPH, MS, RDN, LD, CSCS
Dr. Wesley McWhorter, is a highly respected expert in nutrition, food as medicine, and behavioral science.
Wesley serves as a national spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as an advisory council member for the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative, and as a community board member for the American Diabetes Association.
As a professional chef, dietitian, and food-as-medicine expert, he leverages his diverse skill set to lead the way in hands-on culinary medicine education and food-as-medicine programming. He is committed to driving positive change through his research and work, which focuses on improving nutrition equity. In addition to his peer-reviewed research, and textbook contributions, Dr. McWhorter is a published cookbook author.
With his extensive background in culinary arts, nutrition, and fitness, Wesley is uniquely qualified to offer expert advice on designing individual and group programs for achieving optimal health and wellness. He is a frequent speaker, podcaster, and food as medicine consultant who volunteers his time to help systems implement and improve their food prescription and culinary medicine programs.
Wesley previously served as an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at McGovern Medical School and in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas School of Public Health, where he was the Director of Culinary Nutrition for the Nourish Program.
He received his culinary training from the Florida Culinary Institute, his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University, his master's degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, and his doctorate in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health in Houston, TX.
